Bar, Restaurant

Historic & Friendly

The Pub was established in 1817, In the Name of "The Crown Tap". It appears to have been so-named because it stood to the rear of the original Crown beerhouse. It was renamed the Coach & Horses in the 1860s and rebuilt in its present form around 1928-1935.

Indoor & Outdoor

Chilled & Relaxed

Close to the High Street, this welcoming pub with an inviting atmosphere has appeared in "the Good Guide" for over 20 years. Six ales served with one always from Oakham. Good quality, home-made food is available lunchtimes and evenings, with a popular Sunday Roast, plus themed menus including curry nights. The bar service is efficient and friendly. The walls are adorned with prints and decorative plates, and a collection of tankards hang from the ceiling. Cosy and attractive courtyard garden.

From The Landlord

The Coach & Horses are so pleased to be back open. A hidden gem of a pub that is one of the last of a dying breed, a ‘proper’, traditional pub that serves a great selection of real ales to suit your palate. We also serve fresh, home-cooked quality pub food.

We don’t unfortunately allow children under 10 in the pub and we currently ask that dogs are only allowed outside on lead.

We are currently open slightly different hours to the ‘norm’ and the kitchen is currently only open for limited hours. Please call or email for information.

We will be open for food Thursday evening from 6pm and we are pleased to offer the ‘Bangers & Mash’ promotion. Your choice of sausages, mash & gravy for only £10. Eat in or take away. Other items also available.

We will be serving our pub menu Friday & Saturday 12-2:15 & 6-8:45pm. Sunday Lunch is back on and doing very well. Booking is essential as we limit the amount of stock we have to keep everything fresh and try to avoid wastage. Take away is available throughout the kitchen opening times and we offer a 10% discount on take away food.

Our Wednesday Curry Night is proving increasingly popular.
Hazel’s superb Goan Beef Curry is the talk of the town.
For just 15.00 pound you will geta Home-Made Curry, Rice, Naan Bread and Poppadom and also a selected drink, which is an absolute bargain!

We still offer outside catering and tailor-make your buffet to suit your requirements and budget. Please contact us with any enquiries.

As the current landlord of nearly eleven years, I would like to welcome you to the Coach and thank all of our regulars for your patience and continued support during these uncertain times.

Dave Simmonds.
